The perfectionists!
It's Sunday morning and I have had a chance to think a bit about Friday. It was a maddening day - the FINAL DEADLINE for the Film Fest video projects. I felt somewhat like a restaurant owner who wanted to close-shop walking around all through the period reminding everyone that their project was due and that today was the 'drop-dead deadline.' I had a huge check-list on the dry-erase board so everyone could see what had yet to be turned-in by their groups.
It was frustrating for me to keep up with everything because it seemed it was all down to the last minute, and this was AFTER a one-week extension. But now that I am more than one day away from it all I can see it all differently. Those students who were working down to the last minute had actually been in the edit room all week making touch-ups, revising audio, re-arranging shots and doing everything possible to make their 'film' better! It wasn't that they had put off working, they had their hearts in the project and they want it to be the BEST it can possibly be.
Even though grading deadline was Friday, some asked if they could STILL do a little updating to their video prior to the Film Fest event on Wednesday. I guess those are the ones who REALLY care and who want their video projects to truly shine! I am grateful for the perfectionists.
